The Story Behind Miram
"Miram" (میرم) translates to "I'm Leaving" — and it is not a threat. It is a decision already made. This is Track 10 on Saymawn's 20 Salegi album, and it is the record's most quietly devastating moment: the instant when the narrator stops waiting and starts walking.
The song opens with a warning that was never heeded: "I told you not to go, but you didn't listen — I told you if you leave, things will get worse — you left, and you saw." The narrator did not abandon first. They warned. They pleaded. They watched the other person ignore every word. And now, with the suitcase still in hand, they are doing the only thing left to do: leaving themselves.
The chorus carries the weight of the entire song: "I'm leaving because your heart has seen bad things — it's obvious from how your behavior has changed." The narrator does not leave in anger. They leave because they can read the room. The suspicion, the distance, the coldness — it all points to one conclusion. The line "I'm leaving so the door can be closed" is not spiteful. It is merciful. It ends the cycle.
The bridge reveals what was lost: "Our youth passed by each other's side — do you remember, or not? We were really special." The repetition of "we were special, we were alike" is a eulogy for a relationship that once felt extraordinary. The memory of staying awake together until three in the morning — "we were awake by each other until three at night" — stands in stark contrast to the final dismissal: "You said what we had was just an ordinary feeling."
The most cutting line arrives near the end: "This was your doing, not fate — this was in your hands, not destiny." The narrator refuses to let the other person hide behind chance. This was a choice. And choices have consequences.
Written, composed, and arranged by Saymawn, "Miram" was recorded at Ofogh Studio (استودیو افق) using Cubase with a U99 microphone. As the tenth track on 20 Salegi, it stands as the album's final act of letting go — the door closing, the rain falling, the silence settling.
