Doori Azam Lyrics

The Story Behind Doori Azam

"Doori Azam" (دوری ازم) translates to "Distance from Me" — a devastating confession of love that persists even when the person has gone. It is the final track on Saymawn's 20 Salegi album, and it closes the record with the most vulnerable moment: the plea of someone who has not moved on.

The opening lines set the scene with raw urgency: "Come, say you still love me — let the distance shrink." The narrator is not bargaining with logic; they are bargaining with memory. They know the other person is with someone else — "You, with that one, together night till morning / Me here, my heart has grown alone" — but they cannot stop reaching out across the silence.

The chorus repeats the title phrase like a wound that refuses to close: "You're far from me — far from me — far from me." The repetition mirrors the way the mind circles back to the same ache, the same absence, the same empty space. The narrator's "breaths burn with yours" — even separation cannot sever the invisible thread.

The middle section reveals broken promises: "You said, 'Baby, it's only the beginning — I'll stay for you.' You said, 'I'll become a star, and you be my wish.'" These promises now echo in an empty room. The narrator asks a question that has no answer: "If you're not here, who will rest their head on my lap? Who will hold your hands so you won't feel cold?"

By the final verse, the narrator's room has become a museum of absence: "Your place on my wall has become my support." The empty space where a photo once hung is now the only thing holding them up. The song ends not with resolution, but with a whispered plea: "Don't go — separation is a waste."

As the closing track of 20 Salegi, "Doori Azam" carries the weight of everything that came before it. It is the sound of someone standing at the door, refusing to believe the other person has already left.
